Flaky app

I downloaded the July and August issues, no problem (other than the fact that you cant see those double-page pictures properly: they dont fit on the screen and you cant zoom out. Not very smart.)
Now that the October issue is available, I cant download.
I called the publisher, they say they cant help: I have to resolve the issue with the Apple Store !?!?
Im not renewing the subscription.
