I love the magazine but the app is exceptionally prone to crashing. Sometimes have to try loading two or three times to get it to run. Once its going its fine. Also when downloading its exceptionally slow at updating the " view recent downloads " and will try to download multiple times of the same issue. W V
Prior to doing the March 25th update I could access my Flying Magazine subscription now I cant does anyone else have the same problem and if so is there a fix?
Hi after downloading the March 25 update I cant load the application anymore, I just renewed my subscription for a year and I cant read my magazines. Aldo
Wonderful magazine, very nice to read on the iPad and i look forward to it becoming available each month. Especially nice that you get it early, about the 14th before the month. Reasonable price with annual subscription, I wouldnt bother seeking it out in a store nor subscribing to the physical magazine. Unfortunately the app is *painfully* slow! Now that I have several issues, it takes over sixty seconds just to launch, then frequently crashes!! To make matters worse, almost every time you switch out and back you must wait again. It seems like the more issues you own, the worse it gets. Also, magazines only download at about 1mbps regardless of your connection speed so expect to wait twenty minutes or more to download a new issue, and you cant leave the app while this is happening. Yes this is all on an iPad 2 with lots of memory. This app is seriously flawed and absolutely must be fixed -- i assume they will but my patience is wearing thin -- but if you are a pilot I still recommend it.
App is still crap. Wont download properly and once it is open, it freezes. Fix it. Its very difficult to read a mag you cant get to stay on the screen... Do something! This problem has persisted for months now...are any of the developers reading this stuff. Youve got a bunch of frustrated customers. Who are getting sweet tweet for their money.
No matter what I do, I have to delete the app and reinstall everything from scratch every time I want to load the latest edition. That works, but why should I have to do that? The latest version was supposed to fix the problem, but it doesnt seem to have worked. This "updated" version has also added giant ads to the past issues index page that takes up half my iPad screen! Yes, I can scroll below the ads to see previous issues I might like to reload, but now, thanks to the giant ads, I can only see only two at a time when it used to be six. Very annoying.
Very frustrating app! Always a big hassle trying to download the new issues, annoying waste of time!
Crashes all the time, so irritating, youre better off with good old tree killing magazines.
My problem was fixed: I had the same problem with the new version, not being able to authenticate my account even when i asked the app to send me another password to my email account name. It sent the password but it would never work on the ipad for the Flying app. The problem seemed to be because I had two account numbers, one for the paper version and one for the digital version. I phoned Bonniers customer service and once they combined my two account numbers into a single account for both paper and digital the app accepted the new password. Hope this helps some of you. Good magazine otherwise.
Living in Poland, I subscribed to the printed edition for several years, at a cost of postage that aced a hefty premium on the top of the price your US customers could enjoy. Once I got my iPad (quite recently), I returned to Flyings digital version. Not only Can I enjoy reading Flying whenever I am, but also I am happy to come back to some columns in the pas issues, which are all on my tablet! Besides, dont you agree that the digital issues contribute to expand democracy in the world? =:). This secures equal access at the same price to everybody worldwide to Flying!!!
App keeps crashing even after being reinstalled.downloads once completed does not show as available for reading . Out of 5 issues downloaded only 2 are available for readi g in the app. Please fix it! Good idea anyway, just make it work,so we can enjoy this great magazine!

Great digital version. I was surprised that I could tap on a story in table of contents and it took me there. Ads are not a problem in digital issue. Thanks Flying and keep it up :)
Had digital issue access for a while and then lost it. Ive been a subscriber for years and have a current subscription that doesnt expire until next May. I lost access to the digital issues and no matter what I do (log in with my email, account number, name and address), nothing works. Ive emailed customer service 20 times with no resolution. Theyre useless. The current printed mag that Im looking at right now has an expiration date of May 2017...I have print access, I should have digital access. I guess Ill just let my subscription expire and be done with it. I like the magazine, but its the principle.
I have been a Flying magazine customer for the past 5 years, and I dropped my paper subscription for the digital option since I am always on the go. Cant say that I am very happy about that decision. At first, it was great, and I had no complaints. However, as my digital library has grown over the past year and a half, so have the crash occurences. I downloaded the latest issue today, but can no longer view any of my issues because the app crashes everytime now. I have tried hard resets and everything I can think of with no positive results, and have over 27GB of memory available on the IPAD2. I hope the designers find a fix real quick. I would have given the app 5 stars a year ago, but can only rate it as a 1 right now with all the crashes I have experienced lately and the fact I can no longer open the app all together.
Dont waste your time, buy the paper version Crashes, wont load and they cant fix it.
I love the magazine but this app needs some serious work. Theres some bugs and once in a while you have to completely delete it and reinstall it so you can use it again. One thing that drives me absolutely insane is that the app shows a "new" badge even though you already opened and read the issue. Please fix this. Another bug is that the cover does not update with the new one every month. And yet another that you have to open and reopen the app few times before you can see the new issue hat is available for download. Auto download would be great also but not that big of a deal.
